The actor was in New Mexico filming “Rust,” which he stars in and produces. Baldwin threw a firearm at the set that killed 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins, the film’s director of photography, according to investigators.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation “remains open and active” and that no charges have been filed.
“According to investigators, it appears that the scene being filmed involved the use of a firearm when it was unloaded,” a law enforcement statement said. “Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was fired.”
Production accidents, despite safety measures, have occurred before. While filming “The Crow” in 1993, actor Brandon Lee, Bruce Lee’s son, died in a gunshot accident.
Even blank ammunition can be deadly if fired at close range. In 1984, actor John-Eric Hexum was playing with a gun on the set of “Cover Up: Golden Opportunity” and died after putting his gun to his head and pulling the trigger.
