ISLAMABAD: The federal government has started considering the change of IG Sindh, while the ministers demanded the appointment of an IG who is not afraid of the Sindh government.

According to details, after the case of Sindh Opposition Leader Haleem Adil Sheikh, the demand for change of IG Sindh gained momentum. The federal government has started considering the change of IG Sindh and consultations are underway in this regard among PTI members including federal ministers.

Consideration is being given to appointing a 21st grade officer as IG in Sindh and making KP, Punjab officer as IG Sindh.

Sources said that PTI Sindh is disappointed with the role of IG and Chief Secretary. In this regard, the reservations of MNEZMPZs have been conveyed to the federal government. Major changes are likely in Sindh in the near future.

The demand for change of IG was raised for the first time in the MPAs meeting, sources said, adding that the Prime Minister had assured to consider the demand.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan had telephoned Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, in which Imran Ismail had informed the Prime Minister about the details of torture and inhumane treatment of Haleem Adil Sheikh in police custody and complained that the Sindh Police IG I am acting impartially, IG Sindh is involved in political activities.
