Biden Approval Grows as More Americans Receive Vaccinations: Poll

The number of Americans who have approved President Joe Biden has grown steadily since he took office, according to a Reuters / Ipsos poll released Friday, driven by concrete steps his administration has taken to address the health crisis. and economic-induced coronavirus pandemics.

A national opinion poll on March 17-18 found that 59% of adults in the United States approved of Biden’s overall job performance, while 35% disapproved and 6% said they were unsure.

The number of adults who approve of Biden is up about 4 percentage points since a poll ran in late January, and the increase is largely due to Biden’s increasing popularity among independents.

About six in 10 independents said they approved of Biden in the latest poll, up from nearly five in 10 who felt the same way in January.

The poll found that Americans seemed most satisfied with Biden’s handling of the nation’s coronavirus response, and more than half of the country approved of his influence on the U.S. economy.

Sixty -five percent of Americans said they approved of Biden’s handling of the pandemic, and 52% of adults said they liked his oversight of the economy and jobs.

Strong approval numbers come as more coronavirus vaccines are being given in the United States, with the country on track to meet the president’s goal of administering 100 million doses ahead of last April’s target. The United States has been so successful in securing a stockpile of vaccine that Biden has begun making plans for giving other countries shot doses that have not yet received U.S. approval.

Meanwhile, the public has also begun receiving cash payments as part of a $ 1.9 billion stimulus plan approved by Biden and Democratic congressmen last month.

The poll showed that the public is more critical, however, of Biden’s note so far on immigration, as the administration faces an influx of migrants to Mexico’s southern border.

Republican leaders are critically critical of the president’s interest in restoring some of his predecessor’s immigration policies, and they increasingly blame him for the waves of new migrants crowding the border in hopes of entering the country. .

Nearly 41% said they approved of Biden’s handling of the immigration system, while 45% disapproved. Republicans were particularly critical with 79% saying they did not approve of Biden’s note about immigration, while 73% of Democrats said they approved of his handling of border issues.

The Reuters / Ipsos poll is conducted online, in English, across the United States. It gathered responses from 1,005 adults, including 456 Democrats and 374 Republicans. The poll has a credibility gap, a measure of accuracy, of four percentage points.
