Biden Visits PA To Promote Stimulus Package in ‘Help Is Here’ Tour

President Joe Biden visited Pennsylvania on Tuesday to promote his $ 1.9 trillion stimulus package as part of his team’s all-out push to sell a plan aimed at strengthening the U.S. economy from its pandemic doldrums.

Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, first lady Jill Biden and others are visiting various states and appearing on television as part of what the White House calls “Help is Here” tour.

Biden is expected to visit a small business in Delaware County, a suburb of Philadelphia. The Democratic president defeated former Republican President Donald Trump in the battlefield state of Pennsylvania in the Nov. 3 election. Biden and Harris on Friday will visit Georgia, another state where Biden ended up with a win over Trump.

The law, known as the American Rescue Plan, passed the Democrat-led U.S. Democrat despite unified Republican opposition. Republicans supported pandemic -related aid measures under Trump but rejected Biden’s plan as too expensive and not sufficiently focused on the public health crisis.

White House economic adviser Jared Bernstein, speaking to CNN, defended the size of the package, saying it would boost the economy from this “start again, stop again” phase since the COVID-19 lockdowns associated with the pandemic a year ago

The package, one of the largest economic stimulus measures in U.S. history, provides $ 1,400 in direct payments to most Americans, $ 350 billion in assistance to state and local governments, a credit expansion in the child tax and increased funding for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The measure was Biden’s first legislative priority while serving in office in January. Partisan battle lines have already been drawn in the next coming – a massive infrastructure plan that could be involved in the first major tax increase since 1993. Biden has promised that he will not raise taxes on people earning more. less than $ 400,000 a year.

The White House said it did not believe the administration of former President Barack Obama, of which Biden served as vice president, had done enough to promote the more than $ 800 billion 2009 economic program. Democrats lost control of the House of Representatives to Republicans next year.

Biden said Monday that his administration will reach two key goals over the next 10 days: 100 million coronavirus shots into people’s arms and 100 million checks into people’s pockets or bank accounts.
