China’s first Universal Studios theme park opens this month in Beijing. Here’s a look




(CNN) – Dementors. Decepticons. Minions. Raptors.

These are just some of the wild creatures that await visitors to the new Universal Studios Beijing Resort, which officially opens on September 20 after several delays due to the pandemic.

Consisting of seven theme parks full of 37 attractions, it will be the fifth Universal Studios theme park in the world.

It has many of the popular attractions found in its counterparts in Singapore, Osaka, Los Angeles and Orlando. But there are also some universal novelties, including the land of the impressive Kung Fu Panda.

CNN spoke to several people who had the opportunity to visit them as part of the pre-opening trial operations. Visitors report that waiting times could be high, while some shows were so popular that it was impossible to access them.

Among the most popular attractions are the Screaming Decepticoaster in the Transformers area and all the Harry Potter attractions. The Jurassic World Adventure and the Minions simulator also attract long queues.

Although capacity has been limited during the “pressure testing period” and the soft opening period, waiting times for more popular rides were well over an hour for much of the day, according to reported CNN.

“During the test operations, guest guests will experience selected attractions, attractions, shows and catering services at Universal Studios Beijing Theme Park on set dates,” the park said in a statement. “Based on guest feedback and comments, Universal Beijing Resort will seek to adjust operating practices and service details to prepare for the upcoming inauguration.”

Those who want to take part in the stunning live shows that Universal is famous for will want to head straight to the lands of WaterWorld and Hollywood or risk getting lost as the venues fill up quickly, according to recent visitors.

Controlled control measures have been implemented throughout the complex, including temperature checks at the entrance. Masks are mandatory.

Park guests have two tourist hotels to choose from: the Universal Studios Grand Hotel and the NUO Resort Hotel. Nearby is the Universal CityWalk, full of restaurants, which requires no entry.

Universal Beijing Resort is owned by Beijing International Resort Co., a joint venture between Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment Co. and Universal Parks & Resorts, a business unit of Comcast NBCUniversal.

It is an easy drive from central Beijing and close to several expressways, while there is also a dedicated subway station.
