In our digital world – where your 280 invective characters on any issue can be projected into the world as long as you are, at the very least, within the scope of a cellphone – there’s a refreshing about the fact that one of most analog methods of getting a message across still get a bit of strength.
Yes, while Conservatives have been angrily calling for New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign for several months now – and those calls have been bolstered by some Democrats now that the problem with the death toll in Cuomo’s womb was joined by numerous credible allegations of sexual misconduct-a plane with a banner passing behind it drove the point homeward.
The message: “New Yorkers Say Cuomo Must Go!”
Here is the plane, which flew next to state Capitol in Albany on Wednesday:
Here’s a better look at the “Cuomo’s to go” plane around Albany.

So I know what you’re thinking, if you’re a liberal: The conservative crank is to rent a plane, put the banner in the back and we leave.
Actually, quite the opposite. Feminists pay to fly, according to New York Post.
The paper reported that three groups were behind the banner: Women’s March, UltraViolet and Girls for Gender Equity.
Cuomo refused to resign, saying he had paid due process and he would wait investigation of the accusations.
The good news for him is that the number of defendants has remained stable at seven for the better part of a week. The bad news is that members of the state Assembly have launched their own investigation with an eye toward impeachment, according to The Associated Press.
The solution was not enough for any of the groups funding the flight on Wednesday.
“Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proven himself to be a serial predator who abuses his power, his office and the women who work for him, ”Rachel O’Leary Carmona, executive director for Women’s March, told the Post.
“And yet, he refused to resign – putting his own ego above the safety of his staff and the stability of the state at a time when New Yorkers were suffering so much. It was too late for Cuomo to stand up. “If she doesn’t, it’s time for Democrats in New York and across the country to stand up for women and demand her impeachment.”
“We plan to continue to pressure Cuomo and the White House to do the right thing for women here as we look to correct the mistakes women have made over the last four years but especially in the last four years,” he said. added, according to Politico.
And while President Joe Biden has not yet called for Cuomo’s resignation, he thinks he can move in that direction.
Biden’s statements that whistleblowers should be believed are “a promising first step,” Carmona said. There is also the fact he gave the suggestion that it could be Cuomo charged for his conduct.
“The fact that Biden is guiding the investigation in that direction is important,” he said. “It’s a strong signal that there needs to be real accountability.”
“The thing that separates Biden … is he listens and changes. He can move.”
Meanwhile, Shauna Thomas, executive director of UltraViolet said, “Following the initial allegation of sexual misconduct against Andrew Cuomo, we called on him to immediately resign from the governorship.
“Since then, six more women have come forward to share offensive experiences of what has been working for Cuomo.
“Sexual harassment should not be tolerated in any workplace, let alone by the New York Governor’s Administration. These women are putting everything on the line in the hope that their abuser will be held accountable. We believe in them. “Cuomo must resign now.”
In any other workplace, an employer faced with those serious allegations will be placed on administrative leave until an investigation is completed. Governor Cuomo is no exception. This is not business like before. #CuomoResign Add your voice: https://t.co/b6X43ryxvt pic.twitter.com/5YP8tTnhID

Girls for Gender Equity CEO Joanne Smith echoed those sentiments, saying, “It’s time for men in power to abuse, harass and take care of women – and all those below them – It’s over. New Yorkers will not tolerate sex and sexual violence; it’s time for Andrew Cuomo to resign! “
“To the people who have survived sexual and emotional abuse from the governor of New York, we know we see you and we believe in you,” Smith said.
Rarely do we find ourselves in agreement with men on Women’s March (I didn’t realize they are still around, to be frank), but it only proves how universal the opinion about Cuomo is.
Both New York senators – Democrats Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer – have called for his resignation, as has the panoply of other Democratic politicians. Republicans thought he should have resigned long ago, but likely for a variety of reasons.
Whatever the case, Cuomo seems to believe he can ride it. They are just tweets. Ignore the tweets, things will be fine. Who will pay attention, right?
That’s why sometimes, some old -fashioned social media – the ol ’plane with a banner trick – can make all the difference in the world.
