Democrats introduce resolution censuring Gosar

House Democrats on Wednesday said “violence against women in global politics is meant to discourage women from seeking out dignitaries and sharing public life, with women of color disproportionately impacted.” They also say that “faulty and vulgar news can and promote violence itself” demonstrated an example of an attack on the Capitol on 6 January.

It is unclear if or when the House will vote on a resolution condemning Gosar’s actions. She is home this week at recess for Veterans Day observance and is scheduled to return next week.

Democratic Reps Jackie Speier and Eric Swalwell of California, Jim Cooper of Tennessee, Brenda Lawrence and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Sylvia Garcia and Veronica Escobar of Texas, Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, Nikema Williams of Georgia, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and just other Democrats were arrested .

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, also urged the House Ethics and Law Enforcement Committee to investigate Gosar’s actions, and to condemn House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy of California.

“That made sense on the line,” Speier told CNN. “Congressman Gosar is inciting violence against his colleague – Congress Ocasio-Cortez.”

Gosar has removed it from his Twitter account. In it, Gosar is portrayed as a cartoon hero who attacks the giant Ocasio-Cortez in the face with a sword. Then the giant can be seen to rot on the ground. Another scene shows Gosar flying through the air and bending two swords to mark Biden’s face.

Gosar said in a statement that he is not “violence or detrimental to any member of Congress or Mr. Biden espousing”, and to see him “sign the fight for the life of America when Congress takes” the President’s economic burden, which includes immigration provisions, he opposes. .

“I see this as a really symbolic struggle over immigration policy,” said Gosar.

Gosar’s siblings have long been critical of his brother; six of them endorsed their Democratic opponent on television in 2018.

Jennifer Gosar her sister CNN said Tuesday that the Congressman’s behavior “definitely is getting worse, because nobody – nobody – gives an account”.
