Elton John Swipes at the Vatican: ‘Hypocrisy’

Singer songwriter Elton John addressed the Vatican about the recent declaration that the Catholic Church will not bless same-sex unions.

The Vatican did announcement on Monday, a statement approved by Pope Francis. Nasa statement, same -sex unions are called an “option” that “cannot be recognized as the object mandated in God’s revealed plans.”

It adds that God “does not and cannot bless sin: he blesses the sinful man, so that he may recognize that he is part of his plan of love and allow him to change him.”

The question posed, “Does the Church have the power to give blessings to same -sex unions?” The answer given by the Vatican, “Negative.”

In response, Elton John hit again.

“How can the Vatican refuse to bless gay marriages because they are ‘sinful’, but happy to profit from investing millions in ‘Rocketman’ – a film that celebrates my pleasure in finding marriage to David?” he asked on Instagram.

He added, “Hypocrisy.”

The singer pointed to a article of The Daily Beast in December 2019 which mentioned that the Vatican had allegedly spent $ 4.5 million in helping fund “Men in Black: International” and “Rocketman.” Regarding the funding, the Vatican told the publication at the time that “investigations are underway.”
