Fauci is calling for the Fox News host to be fired “in situ” for “killing the shot”.

“I mean, this is crazy,” Fauci added. “The man should be fired in the same place.”

A Fox News spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Watters made his remarks Monday at the Turning Points USA right-wing conference where he gave students a playbook on how to record a viral moment that Fox News would broadcast and that other right-wing media would amplify.

“Now you’re going in for the deadly shot. The deadly shot? With an ambush? Deadly. Because you don’t see it coming,” Watters said.

Fauci reacted with surprise to the “horrible” comments on Tuesday, but also acknowledged that Watters is “very likely” to become “incompetent” on Fox News.

“The only thing I’ve done over the last two years is encourage people to practice good public health: get vaccinated, be careful in public, wear a mask,” Fauci told New Day.

“And that’s why,” Fauci continued, “do you have a guy who says people should shoot me dead to ambush me? I mean, what kind of madness is there in society these days?”

Watters’ comments come just weeks after Lara Logan, another Fox News personality who hosts a program on the channel’s streaming network, he compared Fauci to a Nazi doctor famous for experimenting with prisoners in the Auschwitz death camp.

At the time, Fauci called Fox News to remain silent and not comment on Logan’s comments.

“What strikes me as Chris, is how he doesn’t get any discipline from Fox,” Fauci told MSNBC host Chris Hayes at the time. “How can they let me say that without any comment or disciplinary action. I’m amazed at that.”
