Cavuto, who has been public about his health challenges over the years, including a nearly 25-year journey with multiple sclerosis, left the Fox program on Tuesday afternoon as a result of the diagnosis.
“While I’m a little stunned by this news, doctors tell me I’m lucky too,” Cavuto said in a statement posted via Fox News Media. “If I hadn’t been vaccinated and with all my medical problems, it would have been a much more serious situation. It’s not because I did it and it survives because I did it.”
“I hope everyone and everyone receives this strong and clear message. Get vaccinated for yourself and for everyone around you,” Cavuto added. “Everyone wins, except maybe my wife, who thought I was definitely coming back to town for live shows. Maybe not so fast now.”
Cavuto anchored his oriental program, “Your World,” as usual on Monday at 4 p.m., indicating that the positive test result came later.
