Sen. Lindsey Graham (SS.C.) called on Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to step down from his position amid the border crisis.

“It is clear to me that the Biden Administration has lost control of the border. Under its current leadership it does not have either the will or the ability to fix the problem. Solutions are clear but will require an understanding that early policy choice of the Biden Administration – to renounce Trump’s successful border policies – is a mistake, ”Graham wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

He added, “It’s time for DHS Secretary Mayorkas to change course or change jobs. The situation is bad and will only get worse. Unless there is immediate and drastic change, the worst will still come – far away.”

During Mayorkas’ testimony before a House panel on the situation on the southern border, Republicans was not done to call him call it was a crisis.

As of Tuesday, more on 13,000 unaccompanied migrant children are in the care of the United States. More than 4,200 were placed at Border Patrol facilities. Three thousand were held beyond the legal limit of 72 hours.

The number of migrant children placed in shelters seeking to add beds removed during the COVID-19 pandemic reached 9,200.

When pressed if the situation is crisis, Mayorkas replied, “I don’t spend any time on the language we use. I spend time running a response to the border situation. ”

He called the situation “extremely difficult.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki asked at a press briefing Wednesday whether Biden would put a “cap” on the number of young migrants allowed in the United States, such as Reported by IJR.

“Our policy will continue that we will not send a 10 -year -old back across the border. That was the policy of the last administration. That was not our policy here,” Psaki said.

Graham declared willingness to work with Democrats on immigration reform if we “regain control of the border.”
