In a recent appearance on 81 Podcast, Hitman revealed how WWE treated a number of stars who were unceremoniously associated with him after his release. There was also his brother Owen Hart.
Bret Hart said he feels WWE’s “wrinkled and feathered” WWE, especially Triple H, who spoke derogatoryly of Owen Hart about the “lump” throughout the story. Hart also said his brother struggled with that kind of treatment, but that he knew there was nothing he could do.
“You know, Owen, it kind of tarred and feathered him when Triple H called him a‘ lump ’and all that shit they did with him,” Hart said. “And I know Owen was bothered by it and I know he felt there was nothing he could do about it … It lasted for a while and I think, maybe, until Owen died, even if they were trying to mess with everyone for a while, but I think after a while, especially after Owen died, I think they were, let’s go on a better path and try to be a better company, maybe. It’s hard to say, I wasn’t there. “
Bret Hart was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006. A few years later, he took part in a short race with the company, culminating in a match at WrestleMania 26 against Vince McMahon.
Owen Hart passed away in 1999
Owen Hart tragically lost his life when he fell from the horns of the arena during his entry into Over The Edge in 1999.
Former WWE judge Jimmy Korderas was in the ring when he felt Owen brush him before landing on the canvas.
“I didn’t really hit me. But I was brushing myself. So I kind of bent down, not knowing what it was. When I turned around, he was there, lying on his back at the corner of the ring.” Corderas said.
WWE gave the Hart family $ 18 million in settlement on November 2, 2000, following a lengthy lawsuit over Owen’s death.
