WWE pays tribute to Blackjack Lanza

WWE remembers the incredible life and career of the late, great WWE Hall of Fame player Blackjack Lanza.

WWE sadly learns that John “Jack” Lanza, known to fans as the WWE Hall of Fame Lanza Blackjackdied at the age of 86.

One of the greatest black hat antiheroes in sports entertainment history, Lanza was best known for his tenure as half of Blackjack’s dangerous tag team alongside Blackjack Mulligan. The duo’s intimidating appearance and aggression allowed them to brutally bypass the tag team units of several promotions, culminating in a World Tag Team Championship victory over Dominic DeNucci and Pat Barrett. By hanging up his boots, Lanza helped build the next generation of Superstars as a respected and longtime WWE employee.

In 2004, Lanza inducted his former manager, Bobby “The Brain” Hinan, into the WWE Hall of Fame, and in 2006, Hinan returned the favor by introducing Lanza and Mulligan into the sacred hall.

WWE would like to express its condolences to Lanza’s family, friends and fans.
