How long was Drew Brees in the NFL?




Drew Brees officially announced his retirement on Sunday. His children posted the decision via Brees ’Instagram account. Drew Brees ’retirement is no surprise, but it’s a heavy loss for the NFL.

Drew Brees is one of the best quarterbacks on and off the field since the Chargers made him in 2001. Brees spent five years in the San Diego Chargers before joining the New Orleans Saints. Brees has spent the last 15 years of his NFL career with the Saints.

The Chargers from San Diego chose former quarterback Purdue Boilermaker Drew Brees with his 32nd overall pick in the second round 2001 NFL Draft. During his five years with chargers, Drew Brees completed 62.2% of passes for 12,348 passing yards. He added 80 passes and 53 interceptions.

The New Orleans Saints gambled with Drew Brees during the 2006 free agency period. Ever since Drew Brees teamed up with Sean Payton, his career has skyrocketed. In his first season with the New Orleans Saints, Drew Brees threw 4,418 yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

During the 2008-2009 NFL season, Drew Brees led New Orleans Saints to the Super Bowl. He met Peyton Manning and brought home his first Super Bowl ring. In addition to his first Super Bowl Championship, Drew Brees was named Player of the Year for the 2008 NFL AP.
