How to remove effects in Minecraft

Minecraft has more than a fair share of status effects, some of the potions, some activated out of enchantment, and some caused enemy mobs. However, sometimes players have to get rid of them and return them to their basic state.

Effects can be removed in several ways, depending on whether the player wants to use console commands or not. In the traditional way of survival, all players will have to get rid of the effects of status, beautiful buckets of milk.

Consuming milk will undo the effects of status and return players to normal. In addition, rescuing from death the Totem of the Undoubted or getting out of the end through his return portal will also remove status effects from the player’s character.

For solo Minecraft players with cheat enabled, as well as server administrators or members who have console commands enabled, there are several other ways to remove status effects. One is by typing commands into chat games.

These commands differ somewhat depending on the version of Minecraft being played, but perform the same basic function.

For Minecraft: Java Edition players with versions 1.13 and later, you can remove the status effects by entering the following commands in the chat:

  • “/ effect clear “will remove all status effects on the target player.
  • “/ effect clear @a” will remove status from all players in the current Minecraft world.

For Minecraft: Bedrock Edition players, the following syntax is required to activate the same effect:

  • “/ effect clear “removes the status effects on the target player. If the field is left blank, the player who executed the command will remove its effects.
  • “/ effect @a clear” will remove effects from all players currently connected to the Minecraft world, live or not.

Since these commands work in the chat console, they can also be executed via command blocks. This gives players the ability to turn the command block into a kind of “cleanup” by programming the above console commands into a block.

In this way, players will effectively remove their status effects by interacting with the block. Because the control blocks also respond to redstone mechanisms, there may even be ways to automatically remove player status effects using redstone machines.

Many status effects in Minecraft are very helpful, but being affected by Wither or Poison is a whole other story. Be sure to keep a bucket of milk on hand when facing opponents who may cause these effects.

If all else fails, typing a console command quickly can also do the job. It all depends on how the player wants to enjoy their experience.
