How to use Defog in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Trainers will need Defog to go through some boring routes in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

In the original Generation IV games, Defog was one of eight hidden machines that players must learn each of their Pokemon (or catch Bidoof learn most of them). In remakes, however, these are hidden movements that are much easier to use.

A special move is needed to clear the fog in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

U Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, there is no need to teach Pokemon Defog. Once the coach reaches the foggy area, all they need to do is follow these steps:

  • Bring Poketcha
  • Press R to scroll through the menus until hidden movements are found
  • Click on Defog

After that, the coach will invite Staravia to come and use Defog’s move. This will clear the area and allow the coach to walk forward freely.

Although trainers do not have to teach their Pokemon Defog now, there may be reasons why they would like to. Falling avoidance on the enemy is a really negligible effect, but it also removes dangers (Spikes, Stealth Rocks, etc.) off the field.

This will be great for anyone who wants to play competitive Pokemon Battles online. Most opponents (and some enemies in the game) will set up Stealth Rocks for the passive damage that accumulates over time. Some coaches will have to demist them, especially if they have a Charizard or Articuno it takes 50% off Stealth Rocks.

Worse, the opponent can set up Sticky Webs. This danger reduces the speed of each incoming Pokemon, and it can be really embarrassing to try to beat an opponent who always has a speed advantage.

Where can coaches find Defog Hidden Move?

To get Defog, the coaches will have to go inside the Great Swamp. They don’t have to catch any Pokemon, but they will have to find the ace coach on the right as soon as the player enters the swamp. That NPC will offer Defog Hidden Move.

Luckily, coaches figure this out before they have to walk through the foggy area to get to Celestic Town. Defogging is also required to pass through Coronet Mountain to reach Snowpoint City.
