Kyle O’Reilly bests Adam Cole in The Undisputed Finale 2-out-of-3 Falls Match

Bitter rivalry between Kyle O’Reilly and Adam Cole, the once brothers in the Undisputed ERA, came to an end at NXT TakeOver 36. After a grueling 2 of 3 Falls match, O’Reilly struggled to defeat Adam Cole with incredible pain.

The first fall of the Undisputed Finale, the standard match (which O’Reilly had chosen), began without any sensation, with Cole and O’Reilly throwing their big boots at each other. Action was swift and furious as Cole took over, eventually climbing the ropes for Panama Sunrise. However, O’Reilly was able to counterattack and roll Cole to three to win the first fall.

Time wasn’t wasted on the second fall, Cole’s pick: Street Fight. This choice worked against Cole in the early moments when O’Reilly put a bin on his head and kicked him. But soon after, Cole knocked his former partner off the top rope to the floor, and O’Reilly grabbed his ribs in agony. This gave Cole a target as he hit O’Reilly with kendo shots. When that didn’t overwhelm O’Reilly, Street Fight took an ugly turn, and chains and chairs were used as punishment. Cole won the street fight after knocking O’Reilly off the ropes onto a pair of steel chairs and then hitting him with the Final Shot.

A steel cage for a third fall began to surround the ring, but it seemed like O’Reilly was out of shape to continue as WWE medical staff checked him out. This did not stop Cole from ruthlessly attacking him, eventually unleashing a powerful bomb on him and returning O’Reilly to the ring. The steel cage was blocked and the last fall began.

Cole thought his lead over O’Reilly had waned to victory, but his confidence may have cost him. Instead of getting out of the cage and winning, Cole decided to inflict more punishment by forcing O’Reilly onto the canvas with Panama Sunrise. It wasn’t enough to satisfy Cole, who grabbed the handcuffs and chained O’Reilly to the cage. It was his fall when O’Reilly grabbed his heel, forcing Cole to knock.

The final chapter of Undisputed ERA was written, and it ended with Kyle O’Reilly straightening himself after an all-out war.
