Manchester United recognize Sporting Lisbon winger Pedro Goncalves as a cheaper alternative Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils are likely to find themselves on the right-wing market this summer after missing Sancho last year. However, they could no longer persecute the English international.

Borussia Dortmund wanted a massive £ 108 million for Sancho last summer and is expected to sell it for around £ 90 million this summer. It’s still a pretty big fee, so Manchester United will try to sign Goncalves for almost half of that fee instead.

Goncalves has a £ 51.7m sacking clause in his contract Daily mail, so Sporting will be powerless to stop him from leaving if his clause is triggered.

Pedro Goncalves’ versatility will boost Manchester United

The Red Devils have made good progress this season under the leadership of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and are currently second in the Premier League. However, the gap between them and Manchester City is currently an incredible 14 points.

Solskjaer need a few more signatures for Manchester United to become a serious contender for the title and close the gap with Manchester City next season.

Goncalves has had a big impact on Sporting Lisbon this season and has the ability to repeat what Bruno Fernandes is currently doing at Manchester United.

The 22-year-old has been in top form for Sporting this season, scoring 15 goals in the NOS League so far. Most of his performances have been on the right wing, but he can also play a more central role as an attacking midfielder.

Manchester United don’t have to attack Sancho because Goncalves can do a good enough job if he signs it. The appearance of the exciting Amad Dial could give Solskjaer an additional option next season.

Diallou was finally handed his debut for Manchester United against AC Milan, who managed to shine with a great goal.

If they can sign the versatile Goncalves for his release clause, United will avoid burning a hole in their coffers and will have the funds to invest in other areas.
