Mary Trump, former President Donald Trump’s niece, announced that she has joined the board of LPAC, an organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQ + women candidates.

According to Politico, Trump said he was taking the step as a result of watching his uncle almost destroy democracy.

“We’re about to lose our democracy – and I may be melodramatic but it’s true,” Trump said Thursday.

He added, “I feel like this is the beginning of the fight because we’re close to losing everything, and we’re also faced with a situation where there’s a filibuster fight, and we essentially understand that it’s about representation across the board.”

Politico explained that Trump worked with the organization before the 2016 election and was asked to join the LPAC to help recruit candidates and raise funds before the 2022 election.

“If only men make decisions about women’s issues or straight people make decisions about LGBTQ issues, then that’s where we’re having problems and we’ve seen it,” she said. Trump.

He became critical of his uncle and he was called to resign in an interview with ABC News in July of 2020.

“He is utterly incapable of leading this country and it is dangerous to allow him to do so,” Trump said.

In case you missed it:

He filed a lawsuit in September of 2020 against the former president, his sister Maryanne Trump Barry and their brother Robert Trump who accused them of committing fraud, as IJR was previously reported.

In January, Trump’s uncle accused he was embracing “conspiracy theories” as he sought to dismiss the lawsuit.

Lawyers for Trump criticized the former president in February for not accepting responsibility for his actions, as IJR was previously reported.

“The outrage of the defendants’ past behavior – stealing tens of millions of dollars from their own niece – was probably only surpassed by the chutzpah of their current arguments for dismissal, ”the lawyers wrote.
