PGA Announces Settlement With Trump Organization Over Decision to Move 2022 Championship

The Trump Organization and the PGA of America have announced they have reached an agreement.

The agreement comes nearly a year after the PGA said it was removing the championship event from the former president’s New Jersey golf course following the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, as Reported by Politico.

As the exit notes, the Trump organization entered into a legal dispute with the PGA after the contract was canceled.

“The Trump Organization’s contribution to the golf community is appreciated. We are grateful that the company employs hundreds of dedicated PGA Professionals and continues to give back to the golf community by hosting charity and fundraising events. -sponsored junior golf programs, “the PGA told a statement.

The organization also called Trump’s golf course “a major championship-worthy golf course.”

Eric Trump, son of the former president and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, reacted to the settlement with a statement.

“We have a lot of respect for the work of the PGA. For the past 20+ years, we have enjoyed working with the PGA to deliver to our club members and the public some of the best golf experiences anywhere in the world. We look forward to continuing to support the mission of the PGA and its Professionals, who are the best in the golf industry, ”Eric Trump said.

Former President Trump called the agreement a “wonderful conclusion for everyone,” adding, “Thanks to America’s PGA!”

PGA of America President Jim Richerson said following the attack on the Capitol, “It became clear that holding the PGA Championship at Trump Bedminster would harm the PGA of America brand and jeopardize the PGA’s ability to deliver multiple programs and maintain the longevity of our mission. ”

More than 700 people were charged with involvement in the riot.
