PSG confirm Sergio Ramos will not make debut against Angers, return delayed

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)) confirmed that it was a cross shot Sergio Ramos will not have this much-anticipated debut this week against Angers.

PSG has issued an official statement saying Ramos will continue on its path to full recovery by training individually for the next 10 days. He will return to complete training sessions with the rest of the team only after the specified period. The official statement from PSG reads as follows:

“Sergio Ramos will continue his individual sessions with medical staff and performance staff for another 10 days with the aim of returning to full training.”

Earlier this week it was announced that Sergio Ramos would be in line for his PSG debut against Angers. However, the Paris giants have denied the rumors, suggesting the 35-year-old defender has yet to get back in shape.

This means that Ramos will not only miss PSG’s Ligue 1 match against Angers, but will most likely miss their Champions League match against Bundesliga clothing RB Leipzig.

PSG signed Sergio Ramos for a free transfer from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. However, the 35-year-old center shot has yet to make his debut for his new team after suffering a leaf injury earlier this year.

Sergio Ramos will take some time to get back in shape. His last appearance was in May 2021 when Real Madrid played against Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final.

PSG currently lacks a leader at the back since Thiago Silva left for Premier League Chelsea last summer. Sergio Ramos was signed to fill the gap left by the Brazilian international.

Sergio Ramos was one of the most inspiring captains at Real Madrid. The 35-year-old defender led Los Blancos up to three consecutive championship titles from 2016 to 2018.

Ramos ’experience and winning mentality will be vital for PSG as they prepare to win their first Champions League title.

The Paris giants also signed Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi and Georgini Wijnaldum. Their summer transfer activities signal their intention to win the trophy the club has been craving since taking over Qatar in 2011.

However, it is worth noting that of all the superstars that PSG signed this summer, only Sergio Ramos had yet to perform for the Parisian giant.
