Titus O’Neil revealed as finalist for ESPN’s 2021 Sports Humanitarian Awards

WWE superstar Titus O’Neill has been named a finalist for the 2021 ESPN Sports Humanitarian Awards.

The former WWE Tag Team Champion is competing for the Dove Men + Care Mohammad Ali Humanitarian Sport Award, which is awarded to an athlete “whose consistent and demonstrated leadership has had a positive impact on their community through sport. The candidate must accept the basic principles that Muhammad Ali has so well embodied, including confidence, conviction, dedication, generosity and respect. “

Other finalists include Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, Kansas City Chiefs defender Laurent Duvernay-Tardiff and Minnesota Lynx attacking defender Laicia Clarendon.

The winner will be able to donate a $ 100,000 grant from ESPN to a charitable organization related to the award-winning humanitarian work. Finalists will be able to donate a $ 25,000 grant to the charity in conjunction with their award-winning efforts.

WWE Global Ambassador, O’Neill is a positive force as a father, philanthropist and advocate for good. A product of sexual abuse, O’Neill grew up in poverty, was bullied by others, was constantly in trouble with a fight, and was labeled a “bad child.” With the people who have invested in changing the trajectory of his life, O’Neill is committed to doing justice to the community that supported him and creating positive change for those in need.

In an unprecedented year, facing challenges from the global COVID-19 pandemic, O’Neill delivered hundreds of healthy food boxes to help families, veterans and the elderly. O’Neill also surprised five families in need with a new car and oversaw the creation of grocery baskets and safe toys for more than 40,000 families during the holiday season. Also, in June 2020, he organized a multicultural love walk in Tampa to bring the community together.

Through his outstanding dedication, O’Neill was recently inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as the recipient of the Warrior Award, an award given to someone who demonstrates unwavering strength and tenacity and lives life with courage and compassion.

The winner will be announced during ESPY 2021 Saturday, July 10th and will be presented at the Sports Humanitarian Awards.

The Humanitarian Sports Achievement Award will take place Monday, July 12, at The Rooftop at Pier 17, New York Seaport, and on Saturday, July 24, at 2 p.m. ET on ABC, 90 -minute special TV broadcaster. The ceremony will be hosted by actor and writer Ty Diggs.
