Ultimately, it will come down to who you trust more: a world-class infectious disease expert with decades of experience studying the transmission of deadly infections? Or an ophthalmologist turned right -wing politician whose only medical certification came from an organization he founded himself?
Those are your choices when it comes to judging who has the most compelling argument in the test debate held today at the Senate hearing reviewing the nation’s coronavirus response efforts.
White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci is adamant against misinformation made up of ersatz Kentucky “medical expert” Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) who is still trying to convince people of the alleged effectiveness of masks as a tool to help prevent the spread of COVID -19 coronavirus and its rapidly mutating variants.
“You’re telling everyone to wear a mask,” Senator Paul exclaimed. “If we don’t spread the infection, isn’t that just theater? You have a vaccine and you’re wearing two masks, isn’t that theater?”
The angry Dr. Fauci responded with a damn reprimand.
“Here we are again at the cinema,” Fauci sighed. “Let’s get down to the truth.”
Fauci went on to school Paul claiming that his fight against the COVID virus in the early days of the pandemic gave him immunity to future infections and relieved him of the responsibility to wear a mask – even though the studies that he can still carry a viral. load that can infect other people without prophylactic face covering.
“I agree with you, that you will probably have protection from the wild species for at least six months if you are infected,” Fauci said.
However, the White House’s chief medical adviser explained that either a previous Covid infection or the existing vaccines would necessarily protect anyone from some of the more contagious variations, such as the first found in South Africa .
Having only these variants is a “good reason for a mask,” Fauci said.
The words of the infectious disease expert sparked an explosion of angry accusations from the tough eye doctor in Kentucky.
“You’re making a policy based on speculation!” Paul shouted Fauci’s testimony, accusing him of wanting people to wear “masks for another couple of years.”
“You were vaccinated and you parked in two masks to show off,” Paul continued. “If you already have immunity, you wear a mask to give comfort to others. You don’t wear a mask because of any science. ”
Senator Paul may want to take his grievances to the new undisturbed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention whose latest guidelines call for people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to continue to wear masks in public, now that Donald Trump’s political appointments are no more censorship of their public recommendations.
For his part, Dr. does not allow. Fauci was Senator Paul whose unfortunate statements were not challenged.
“Just let me say for the record, masks are not theatrical,” Fauci declared, before adding that “I really don’t agree” to the senator’s arguments.
While it remains mystical as to why Senator Paul and other jobs on the right do not care too much about the health and safety of their constituents and the rest of America’s citizens, one thing is certain: that their destructive efforts to doubt on the medical recommendations of people who know the dangers posed by this deadly virus will lead to more unnecessary deaths and illness and should call out loud for being a malignant attack on our society it really is.
