Rand Paul Grills Fauci Over Why Vaccinated Americans Should Still Wear Masks: ‘Isn’t It Just Theater?’

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) Urges Americans who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 to return to some resemblance to normal life.

The Kentucky senator even urged the people to “throw away your mask”After receiving the vaccine.

However, health experts say it Americans should still wear masks after getting the vaccine because there is a chance they can still transmit the virus.

At the Senate hearing on Thursday, Paul had some questions for Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease specialist, about why he suggests that people should continue to wear masks after being vaccinated.

“You tell everyone to mask, if they’ve had an infection or a vaccine. What I’m saying is they have immunity, and everyone agrees that they have immunity,” Paul said.

He asked, “What studies have you had that people who have been vaccinated or who have been infected are spreading the infection? If we don’t spread the infection isn’t it just theater?”

Fauci interjected, “No, no …”

Paul interrupted to ask, “You have a vaccine, and you’re wearing two masks, isn’t that theater?”

“Here we are again in the theater,” Fauci replied as he said the studies Paul relied on to claim vaccinated people could not spread the virus were “in vitro” and “not necessarily related to actual protection. . “

Paul goes so far as to claim that there are no studies to prove that humans can be reinfected by the coronavirus.

However, Fauci said the presence of different strains of the virus is a good reason to continue wearing masks because there are instances where people have invented but have a different association.

However, Paul went on to argue that there is “no evidence” to show that there is a “significant” chance of replenishment, hospitalization, or death after being infected or receiving the vaccine.

Finally, he suggested that telling people not to wear a mask would help counteract what he called vaccine hesitation, “You want people to get the vaccine, reward them instead of telling them that the nurses are there. for three more years and you have to wear a mask forever. “

“Let me just say for the record that masks are not theater. Masks are protection,” Fauci recalls.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky says that “there are some activities that fully vaccinated people can begin to resume now in the privacy of their own homes.”

However, he said, “Everyone – even those who have been vaccinated – should continue with all mitigation techniques when in public settings.”

The CDC also said Americans who are fully vaccinated can congregate with other individuals who are fully vaccinated and some who are not vaccinated, indoors with no mask or social distance.
