Sean Lock, British comedian, died at the age of 58

“It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of Sean Lock,” a statement from his agent read in Instagram. He died at home of cancer, surrounded by his family. Sean was one of the best British comics, his unlimited creativity, his lightning spirit and the absurdist brilliance of his work, marked him as a unique voice in British comedy. Sean was also a beloved husband and father of three children. Sean will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We ask that the privacy of his family and children be respected at this difficult time. “

His comic Ricky Gervais lamented the loss on Twitter, calling Lock “one of the most influential comics of a generation.”

“Such sad news. RIP the great Sean Lock,” Gervais wrote. “[He was] one of the funniest and most influential comedians of a generation. A charming man. “

Lock had lucky luck from 2005 with an 18-season career as team captain on Jimmy Carr’s Channel Carr comedy show “8 Out of 10 Cats.” It was then launched into its derivative, “8 out of 10 cats count down.”

Lock also wrote and starred in the BBC sitcom “15 High Floors”, co-host of “The Big Fat Quiz of the Year”. He toured with his improvisation program “Lockipedia,” where he would talk extensively about random topics the audience suggested.

He is survived by his wife, Anoushka Nara Giltsoff, and their three children.
