There were at least 9 mass shootings across the U.S. this weekend

“Words fall short to describe the tragedy that took place this morning,” Colorado Springs police chief Vince Niski said in a statement. “From the officers who responded to the shooting to the investigators still on the scene, we were all incredibly shaken.”

According to Colorado Springs police, the alleged shooter – believed to be the boyfriend of one of the victims – is also dead.

The tragedy was one of at least nine mass shootings that occurred in the United States over the weekend.

At least 15 people were killed and 30 others injured in mass shootings since Friday night, according to CNN reports and a data analysis from Gun Violence Archive (VAB), local media and police reports.

CNN defines a mass shooting as an incident with four or more people killed or injured by gunfire, except for the shooter.

From a community of townhouses and a neighborhood park, to a hotel and nightclub, these are the massive traits that shook the communities of seven states.

Phoenix

An night shooting at the Hyatt Regency Hotel he left one man dead and at least seven wounded, the Phoenix Police Sergeant. Margaret Cox said during a press conference Sunday morning.

Cox noted that a group attending an event at the hotel had an altercation that sparked the shootings. All victims are believed to be between 18 and 22 years old.

Cox told reporters there was more than one shooter, but investigators are trying to find exactly how many and what types of weapons were used.

The shooting was an isolated incident and not a random act, he added.

Woodlawn, Maryland

Three people were killed and another was injured in a shooting at a village home Saturday morning on the outskirts of Baltimore, authorities said.

Police answered a call for one active shooter and fire scene in a community of homes in the Woodlawn neighborhood, the Baltimore County Police Department said in a press release.

California

At least three people were killed and nine others were injured in three separate shootings in California.

In Los Angeles, one person was killed and five others were injured in a shooting Sunday night.

Three people with gunshot wounds were taken to critical condition hospitals and a fifth person was also taken who suffered a non-life-threatening injury, according to a media alert of the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

Four people were injured in a shooting outside a nightclub in Citrus Heights on Saturday, police said Affiliated with CNN KCRA.

Officers found several fights happening in the club parking lot and the surrounding area, according to affiliation.

Four people were injured in a shooting Sunday in Newark, New Jersey, according to one tweet of the police department.

Two men and two women “were shot,” according to the tweet.

Milwaukee

Milwaukee authorities are investigating a shooting that injured four people Saturday afternoon in press release according to the Milwaukee Police Department.

The victims, aged between 23 and 45, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the statement.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the shooting and the charges will be forwarded to the prosecution in the coming days, according to the statement.

St. Louis County Louis, Missouri

Two people were killed and three others injured after a shooting at a park in Kinloch, Missouri, Friday night, St. Louis County Police said. Louis in a press release.

Police said they found no casualties when they arrived at the scene around 6:30 p.m., but later found that five people had been taken to hospital.

According to the statement, two of the men were pronounced dead at the hospital while the other victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to call the St. Louis County Police Department.
