Pokemon Snap kidnapped the world of video games twenty years ago, giving players a never-before-seen view of PokeWorld.
Not only did Pokemon Snap provide players with such a different style of gaming, but it also did so on a television game console, which was unheard of for the franchise at the time.
Now it’s easy to see why this was one of the best moves the developers made when it came to Pokemon spin-off games.
What is a Pokemon Snap?
Pokemon Snap was a first-person simulation-style video game that involved playing in the style of rails. It was released on the Nintendo 64 gaming console in 1999.
Pokemon Snap went down in history as one of the franchise’s first console-based games. This is also the first time that many Pokemon have been shown in 3D and that fans have been able to see them.
After its first release in 1999, Pokemon Snap was redesigned for the Nintendo Wii virtual console in December 2007. This was the first remake, but it definitely wouldn’t be the last. The game was redesigned for the Wii Virtual Console in 2016 before being reworked for the Nintendo Switch this year. Pokemon Snap will be released again in April 2021.

The Pokemon Snap allows players to enter PokeWorld when Professor Oak invites players, Pokemon photographers, to Pokemon Island to communicate and photograph Pokemon in their natural habitat.
Players go through a rail-style game, taking pictures of various Pokemon and documenting Professor Oak’s scientific research. Only the best photos will be added to the Pokemon Report. Players can also earn extra points if the Pokemon is photographed in special poses. Players can throw food to lure Pokemon and make them keep calm.
Pokemon Snap, however, is not all about taking pictures. It also includes fun puzzle games.
Players with the Nintendo 64 version of the game can take their cartridge to a Lawson or Blockbuster Video store (only if they live in North America or Japan) and print pictures from the game on stickers and take them home.
Versions of the Virtual Console game give players the ability to send images captured in the game to the Wii Message Board. Then I can send them to friends or whoever they like.

Put simply, the Pokemon Snap was the first real opportunity for fans to revive their favorite creatures.
Pokemon Snap has given players a way to infiltrate PokeWorld in a way never seen before before games like Pokemon GO and Pokepark Wii.
The return of the game not only gives life to the old classic, but also gives the world a chance to see how Nintendo has improved over twenty years, giving us a real experience of lowering the jaw.
