The parallel processing unit is a vital item for progress in the Subnautics story: Below Zero.

To download an item Subnautica: Below zero, players will have to scan the fragments and obtain a draft. Once the draft is collected, the item can be made.

Three fragments need to be scanned to get a draft of the unit for parallel processing and finally the item obtained for individual use.

Three fragments make up the parallel processing unit. Once a draft is obtained, one gold, one silver ore, and one coral sample for the table are required for making in the Fabricator.

Unlike other fragments that can be scanned at multiple locations, fragments of a parallel processing unit can only be found at one location.

Mercury II has fragments of the parallel processing unit.

Mercury II wreckage must be cut with a laser cutter. The fact that this tool is able to open some doors and create a path on board is a crucial aspect of this mission.

In the video above, YouTuber Indie Game Guides highlight the best way for Mercury II to find all three fragments of a parallel processing unit in Subnautica: Below zero.

The stern engine room contains one fragment.

The onion is the host of the second fragment. To reach it, players can swim to the bridge of the wrecked ship. The second PPU fragment can be scanned in the center console of the bridge.

The final fragment is near the edge of the Purple Vents. In the first room of the broken part of the ship is a small panel. Players can cut the board and scan the PPU fragment.

Once this is done and the parallel processing unit is made, its only use in Subnautica: Below zero is to create a Test Override module. This will deactivate the signal tower on Delta Island and advance the story.
