It didn’t take long for the main event NXT TakeOver: Stop and deliver to take shape. Prior to the introductory segment of the latest episode of NXT, WWE announced this Finn Balorthe next title defense would be against former champion Carrion Cross.

Kross won the title with a win over Keith Lee last summer at TakeOver 30. However, he was injured in the title match. In the NXT episode immediately after TakeOver 30, Karrion Kross was forced to give up his belt.

Following that situation, four former NXT champions – Balor, Adam Cole, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano – battled for the vacant belt. Eventually, Cole and Balor moved on to a one-on-one match where Prince became a two-time NXT champion.

Since then, Balor has beaten Pete Dunne, Cole and Kyle O’Reilly. After last week’s main event, Kross confronted the NXT champion and made his intentions clear. The title match is now official for the upcoming TakeOver event.

This is the biggest possible match for the NXT championship

Balor opened this week’s show to face his potential challenger, and Cross and Scarlett came out into the ring right away.

The surprising essence in upgrading this huge match were the actions of Cross. While he started his NXT career as a heel, he was the face of his quarrel with Santos Escobar.

Even after Balor retained the title against Adam Cole last week, Cross just appeared behind the Prince, instead of attacking him.

During this week’s showdown in the ring, Cross and Balor had strong words for each other, but did not encounter any blows.

This could have been because Scarlett predicted that both Balor and Kross would be “draped in gold” moving into TakeOver. She soon led NXT Tag champions Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan to defend their titles later in the night.

Does that mean we could have new NXT Tag champions by the end of the night? If Scarlett’s predictions are true, that’s a very big possibility.
