Karnataka translator Prasidh Krishna and versatile Baroda Krunal Pandya are likely to receive first calls to the Indian team for the upcoming ODI series against England starting March 23, according to reports.
Prasidh Krishna had a phenomenal Vijay Hazare Trophy, taking 14 goalkeepers during the tournament. He will probably be called up as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah, who is likely to miss the ODI series after recently tying the knot.
Krunal Pandya, on the other hand, represented the Indian team in the T20I, but has yet to make his debut in the ODI. Captain Barode will also reportedly join India’s 18-member team for the ODI series because of his versatile abilities.
Vijay Hazara Trophy’s top scorers are likely to be overlooked for the ODI squad
According to media reports, the two top scorers of the Vijay Hazara Trophy, Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal will not be considered for selection for the ODI team. The two young openers had a sensational run at the Vijay Hazara trophy, scoring 827 and 737 races, respectively.
Indian selectors currently do not see a place for Shaw and Padikal as Indian beginners as Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill are already competing for those two places.
India is likely to prepare a full force squad for the ODI series
Team India is unlikely to rest any regular player for the ODI series starting March 23 in Pune. Ravindra Jadeja, however, may be out of competition for some time until he is fully in shape.
Following the completion of the 5-match T20I series on March 20, both India and England will immediately switch bases to Pune for the 3-match ODI series starting on match 23 before entering the bio-safety balloon for IPL 2021 starting on April 9. .
