WALTER’s signature and frankly brutal punches devastated Ilya Dragunov during their first meeting at the NXT UK Championship, but the physical losses were nothing compared to the brutal beating inflicted on Dragunov’s soul.

At a tense press conference for the release of NXT on July 15, Dragunov expressed his respect for WALTER as a competitor, but also expressed his passionate hatred of The Ring General and stated that the NXT UK champion “deliberately broke something inside me.”
Although WALTER vs. Dragunov II was originally scheduled for July 22, Austrian Anomaly suffered an arm injury during a backstage altercation with The Mad Russian following a press conference a week earlier, which resulted in the title match being pushed back to NXT TakeOver on August 36. 22.
