Who is Michel Prazeres, the former UFC fighter who received a 4-year suspension for doping violation




Michel Prazeres is Brazilian MMA a fighter who competed in UFC from 2013 until leaving the organization in December this year. The 40-year-old boasts a professional MMA record of 26 wins and 4 losses. Prazeres debuted in MMA in October 2000 and in the UFC in May 2013.

‘Trator’ is currently in a series of two defeats. Prazeres ’last fight was a second-round submission defeat against highly regarded Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC Fight Night: Ghana vs. Volkov in June this year.

Prior to his last suspension of USADA, Michel Prazeres The agency previously imposed a two-year suspension on him. In early 2020, it was discovered that Prazeres was positive for anabolic agents in several samples of drugs tested out of competition. Positive tests date from March 9, 2019 – which gave Prazeres the right to return to the competition on March 9, 2021.

Michel Prazeres returned after suspension and fought only once – in what turned out to be his last UFC fight – with his aforementioned defeat by Shavkat Rakhmon June this year.

Michel Prazeres has now received a four-year suspension from USADA for his second doping offense. How it transmits MMA fights, between August 27 and November 2 this year, Prazeres failed four separate drug tests out of competition.

Four different urine samples provided by Michel Prazeres tested positive for the following banned substances – clomiphene and its metabolites (desethyl-clomiphene, clomiphene M1 and clomiphene M2), oxandrolone metabolites and exogenous testosterone and / or its precursors.

As a result, Michel Prazeres will not be eligible to compete in professional MMA fights until August 27, 2025. That will be four years from the date of the initial positive pattern of his doping violations that occurred this year.

Michel Prazeres originally responded to his latest suspension by claiming he would retire from MMA. However, ‘Trator’ later learned that the suspension of USADA could not prevent him from competing in professional MMA fights in certain countries around the world, including his native Brazil.

According to MMA fights, Michel Prazeres plans to continue his MMA career and could fight as early as February 2022. Prazeres claimed that the positive drug tests were caused by the infertility treatments he underwent because he and his wife were trying to have another child.

‘Trator’ suggested that he had already informed USADA about his treatment, and condemned both the agency and the UFC.

Prazeres stated:

“How can I not give my wife a child because of USADA and the UFC? Fuck them. My family comes first. [MMA] it ends, but the family is forever. ”
