Triple Threat match between Kyle O’Reilly, Johnny Gargano and Pete Dunn ends without competition
Three stalwarts from the black and gold brand fought for the right to challenge Carrion Cross for the NXT title at NXT TakeOver: In Your House, but Adam Cole abruptly ended the ultra-competitive fight. Cole first smashed Kyle O’Reilly with a steel chair, then also kicked out Pete Dunn and detonated Johnny Gargano with the Final Shot, causing an angry William Regal to appear to reprimand Cole, albeit by the time the NXT General was already damaged. The manager arrived at the scene.
Amber Moon challenges NXT women’s champion Raquel Gonzalez
Amber Moon called Big Mami Cool and got even more than she expected. Although Moon resisted the women’s NXT champion and even sent her somersault out of the ring, Dakota Kai seized the opportunity to attack Moon from behind and land a powerful kick in the face.
Jake Atlas, def. La knight
LA Knight seemed on his way to defeat Jake Atlas until he got carried away with his attempts to impress Ted DiBias in the ring. Cameron Grimes joined DiBias in the ring, hitting him in the ear and getting Knight’s attention, giving Atlas the opportunity to land Knight with the Wheelwheel DDT to win.
Carrion Cross confronted Adam Cole
Not satisfied with the chaos he had already caused in the Triple Threat Match earlier, Adam Cole entered the ring again, this time bringing in NXT champion Carrion Cross. Regal also joined the two superstars in trying to crush what he called Cole’s attempt to “work his way to the title,” but Cross was more than happy to give Cole what he wanted. Cross demanded to meet not only with O’Reilly, Gargano and Dunn, but also with Cole at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.
Kushida def. Carmelo Hayes
Carmelo Hayes spoke impressively about himself during his NXT debut when he stepped up to answer Kushida’s open challenge, but NXT’s resident Time Splitter ended up being too strong, forcing Hayes to plug into Hoverboard Castle.
Path def. Zoe Stark and Zaida Ramier
Candice Leray and Indy Hartwell fend off a powerful effort from Zoe Stark and Zayda Ramier, winning after a crushing combination of Evil Step Sister and Hartwell’s diving elbow.
NXT Tag Team Champions MSK def. Legado del Fantazma
The gray-haired young veterans seemed ready to intervene as they approached the ring during this, until they were attacked by Tommaso Champa and Timothy Thatcher, who chased them away. Santos Escobar also intervened, attacking Wes Lee from the outside, but was ultimately neutralized by Bronson Reed, who pushed the former NXT heavyweight champion off the ring.
Meanwhile, MSK turned the tide with a patented spinebuster-blockbuster combination to save gold.
