Undefeated Carrion Cross continued his runaway retreat as NXT champion, surviving a gruesome 5-man fatal match against elite superstars. Kyle O’Reilly, Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano as well as Pete Dunn

Despite being unbeatable in a heads-up game, absolute freedom for all was undoubtedly Cross’s greatest challenge in the NXT. Early actions involved Cross suplexing two superstars at the same time and using Dunn’s patented joint manipulation of two opponents, only for Cross to pick up BruiserWeight and hurl him at them.

At a crucial moment, Cross found himself being driven through the front door of the In Your House set. When the dominant NXT Champion was knocked out, his opponents took him out. However, Cross soon reappeared to kill absolutely everyone outside the ring, before almost eliminating Gargano with the Tornado F-5. Strong as a nail, Gargano refused to stand, and he quickly jerked back to unleash his own carnage on the field.

As Cross took over and was taller than the rest, the champion’s opponents teamed up for a moment to hit him with a superkick, before Cole and O’Reilly reunited for a brief second to slam Cross on the bulletin board.

The chaos continued when Cross reappeared and Dunn punched the titleholder with a Bitter End and blocked the surrender, only for the other three contestants to break him.

In the final moments, O’Reilly trapped Cole and nearly made him knock, but the NXT champion reappeared and locked O’Reilly in Cross’s jacket. Eventually, Kyle passed out, forcing him to give up his grip on Cole and allowing Cross to emerge victorious when O’Reilly passed out.
