Kay Lee Ray def. Dakota Kai – War games Ladder Match Advantage
The tense battle between Kei Li Rei and Dakota Kai began even before any of the rivals entered the ring when the two female WarGames teams clashed at the top of the ladder. The brawl between Ray and Kai eventually spilled over into a square circle as they kicked each other up the stairs in hopes of earning the coveted advantage of WarGames.
As Kai climbed the steps after Ray’s monstrous stomp from the top of the stairs, the Eternal Champion pulled herself together and grabbed Kai in time, hitting the back of his head on the stairs. As Kai was stuck upside down in limbo and tangled in the steps of the stairs, Ray was able to get up and secure the briefcase to give his team an edge over Sunday’s bout.
Cameron Grimes def. Andre Chase
Andre Chase didn’t like the fact that Cameron Grimes insulted him in front of his students, so Chase decided to turn Grimes’ attack into an instructive moment by hitting “the richest man in NXT” with a towbar and swinging his collar. However, Grimes didn’t last long, catching Chase with a hurricane before crashing him down to win.
Kyle O’Reilly And von Wagner def. Legado del Phantasm – Candidates Match # 1
The opportunity to challenge the Imperium at NXT WarGames was hotly contested by Legado del Fantazma, Kyle O’Reilly and Von Wagner.
O’Reilly and Wagner proved that their previous defeat to Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza was just a fluke, and they delivered a crushing tandem blow to ground this high-profile duo. When Wilde and Mendoza tried to use the distracted referee to kick O’Reilly out, Wagner jumped in to rescue his partner and send Mendoza flying out of the ring. This left Wilde all alone to create a tandem block and clothesline to defeat O’Reilly and Wagner.
Roderick Strong interrupted by Joe Gacy “All inclusive”
Joe Gacy gave NXT 2.0 an idea of what the inclusive Cruiserwight division would look like by giving open opportunities to Adam Harding, Fallon Henley and Quincy Elliott.
Gacy quickly dispatched Harding with a belly-to-belly suplex and a power bomb before hugging him for his efforts. As he went to lock up Henley, Gacy was interrupted by Roderick Strong and Diamond Mine, who had words for Gacy before their match at Sunday’s NXT Wargames. The back and forth movement quickly dissipated as Strong ate the clothesline pulled over his back before Gacy slid out of the ring to Harland’s defense.
Solo Sikoa def. Edris Enofe
Edris Enofe performed well in his debut match at NXT 2.0 against Solo Sikoa, but it was not enough to defeat the “Street Champion of the Islands”. Two bruises hit each other, but Shikoa turned the tide with a nasty Samoan fall before hitting the water from the top rope for 1-2-3.
After the pinprick, Boa surprised Sikoa with an attack from behind, only loosening his grip on Sikoa after Enofe jumped on the saving throw, earning a handshake from Sikoa as Boa retreated down the ramp.
Indie Hartwell and Persia Pirotta def. Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz
Indy Hartwell was thinking again of her injured husband Dexter Loomis, and it almost cost her the match against Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz, if not for the strength of her teammate Persia Pirotta.
Leon and Feroz lashed out at the distracted Hartwell, sending her staggering with dropkick and moonstorm until she managed to survive a one-way crab feed to tag her teammate. Pirotta walked in and cleared the house with a barrage of clotheslines before staging a crushing sit-in to earn the victory.
Bron Breaker def. Johnny Gargano – War games Ladder Match Advantage
After being selected by the WWE Universe to represent their WarGames teams, Bron Breaker and Johnny Gargano first met in the ring.
Breaker hoped to defeat Gargano with his strength, but Johnny Wrestling’s veteran skills allowed him to come face to face with the young upstart. It was a massive clash, with the two superstars exchanging blows at the top of the stairs. Gargano sent Breaker flying to the floor after hitting him in the head with his short-haired face, but before he could unfasten him, Breaker pulled him down the stairs and caught him in the air for Thunderous Powerslam. When Gargano left the ring, there was no one to stop Breaker as he climbed the stairs and took over the WarGames lead for Team 2.0.
