Dakota Kai def. Ember moon
Two weeks ago, Amber Moon and Dakota Kai were ready to face off in the NXT Women’s # 1 Candidates Match. Moon fiercely attacked her rival, but Kai struck a final thunderclap to prevail. There were even more fireworks after the match as Xia Li burst into the ring and challenged the NXT women’s champion, which Gonzalez seemed to accept.
Tyler Rust def. Bobby Fish
Bobby Fish quickly responded to the open challenge and understood exactly what the Diamond Mine was. Fish took the fight to Tyler Rast, but he mistakenly turned his attention to his former friend Roderick Strong, who allowed the Diamond Mine rookie to dive into the fight with a knee and slide to win. When the Diamond Mine filled the Fish after the match, Kushida came to his aid, forcing the rest of the flock to scatter.
Sarray def. Gigi Dolin
Gigi Dolin challenged, to which Surrey responded firmly in the ring with an impressive performance. Dolin fought hard to win her debut NXT Singles, but Mandy Rose’s appearance cast a mysterious shadow over the match. Surrey rallied in a fierce attack downhill to continue her meteoric rise.
Santos Escobar def. Dexter Loomis
Santos Escobar set his sights on the NXT North American Championship and set out to play against Dexter Loomis. Loomis’s unsettling presence haunted Escobar as the Tormented Artist tried to drag Escobar into the depths of hell under the ring. As Loomis picked up steam, Wilde and Mendoza moved to prepare Escobar for the final version of Phantom Driver. As the victorious Legado del Fantasma climbed the ladder, Hit Row waited, and a tense confrontation ensued.
Duke Hudson def. Ikemen Jiro in the first round match of the NXT Breakout tournament
Ikemen Jiro and Duke Hudson both wanted to make massive opening announcements at the 2021 NXT Breakout. It was a clash of styles as Jiro’s meteoric flight would topple the imposing power of the towering Hudson. In the final moments, Hudson caught Jiro from the sky and threw him onto the mat to clear a ticket to the next round of the NXT Breakout Tournament.
Casey Catanzaro and Kayden Carter def. Alia and Jesse Kamea
Alia and Jesse Kamea had hoped to get Robert Stone’s brand back on track, but Casey Catanzaro and Kayden Carter may have smashed it to pieces. After Catanzaro and Carter teamed up to defeat Aliya, an explosive exchange with Robert Stone resulted in Frankie Monet rushing in an attempt to collect the shards.
NXT Champion Carrion Cross won. Johnny Gargano
Samoa Joe was invited as a special guest referee, but Carrion Cross intended to feature Johnny Gargano and the NXT Universe that runs the show. While the NXT champion continued to fight Samoa Joe, Johnny Wrestling nearly triumphed using DDT in a row. Cross kicked tightly and unleashed rage on his rival to prolong his reign, ending with a beating in the back of the head with a brutal forearm. Not content with defeating Gargano, Cross attacked Samoa Joe from behind, used a guillotine capture and left no doubt about his superiority.
